Glassmakers and makers of stained glass windows. James Powell (1774-1840) purchased Whitefairs Glass Co, which had been established in 1680. The firm worked closely with T. G. Jackson, Burne-Jones, William De Morgan, and James Doyle as designers for stained glass. The name was changed to Powell & Sons (Whitefriars) Ltd in 1919 but was changed back to Whitefriars Glass Ltd in 1962. The company was purchased by Caithness Glass in 1981.
